This week, we've dropped at least $1000 on baby stuff. We only got the stuff we need for her first few months of life. The crib and travel system already bought by the grandmas. We bought a glider, diaper pail, wipe warmer, curtains, guest bedding, swing, diaper bag, boppy, moby wrap and a couple of other miscellaneous things I can't remember. In case you didn't know, babies are RIDICULOUSLY expensive! To be fair, these are more than bare essentials, but I don't feel like we 'splurged' and went for luxury. We compared prices for everything, used plenty of coupons (much to the agony of the cashier) and went for moderately priced items.
This is so crazy. Never in our lives has so much 'stuff' been required. Not consumers of materialism by choice, we've definitely done our part to stimulate the economy. Oh, the Dow went up? That was all us, thank you very much!
With that being said, I have a confession. This baby shower business has been very frustrating because people don't typically buy stuff off the registry. I haven't been able to understand why people don't get stuff that we ask for. BUT! Wait for it, wait for it. BUT, the other day, Louis and I sat in Selah's room surrounded by all her gifts and we were very overwhelmed. We were in awe at all we had received, blessing upon blessing. She got a LOT of clothes, but amazingly it's all in different sizes and we have just enough of everything. It's very useful and will save us a TON of money. I had really missed out on God's sovereign provision over us. These wonderful gift-givers know better than I do, what I thought I needed. I'm very grateful to our church family, our friends and biological family for all they have done. God is good, even when don't realize it!
Posts to come- Selah newsletter (final one hopefully), pregnancy update, mommy blogging and memory keeping, and finally from party of two to three. There's been so much I want to blog about but haven't had the time. Hopefully now that I've told you, I'll be kept accountable.

Yes, first babies are quite expensive. But, the good news it, most of the expensive things will be well worth the money because you will still be able to use them with future children. I will bug you about keeping up with your blog lol, I'll hold you accountale. ;) Seriously though, I miss you guys, and I can't wait for Selah to arrive!
