in the last three months i've bought a new laptop, an ipod, a in-dash car stereo, a nikon d90, a prime lenses, and an office chair. and those are just the BIG purchases. not to mention all the countless other little stuff that I have.
don't get me wrong, I'm not this big spender who splurges on everything. i've scrimped and saved for 8 months on these things! I needed most of these things. but still, I think about all that I have and I'll let you in on a little secret... *whispers* I'm still not happy. Stuff does not satisfy. Nope, I get a little high here and there but nothing lasting. whoever dies with the most toys wins right?
moths/rust will eat most of it and my family will garage sale everything else. did you catch my life lesson yet? stuff ain't worth living for.

One of my least favorite feelings is the one of regret and dissatisfaction that comes shortly after buying a pricey but non-necessary item. The excitement and new wear off so quickly and the realization that you just spent way too much money on something that you don't need takes over. I hate that feeling.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for saving up for most of these things that you needed. I'm much more of an impulse spender, which is not healthy at all.
